Are motivational Books worth Buying?
Yes, if you read them and act on them.
Are seminars and courses in personal development helpful?
Yes, a Lot of Them Are
There is good and bad in everything. Here are a few “secrets” for free.
When you are struggling and working hard to achieve something, there will be times when things go wrong. There will be times when it is necessary to re-think what you are doing. Having a mentor or support group to ask and confer with is vital. They can help you see, objectively what you are doing well and suggest a change in thinking to improve other things.
I am going to take a few key points that crop up again and again in self-help and motivational seminars. The first is from Jim Rohn, now dead, who was one of the easiest to understand because he reduced complex things down to easily understood examples.
Let’s first look at a very simple concept: action. Every time we do something, what has just happened before it? Well what happened just before you arrived here on this page? You were looking for something, you had a thought. Sometimes the thought is very short, very fast, but always, before an action, comes a thought or more.
If You Want to Change Your Life in Any Way, You Will Need to Think About It
What most people do is think about all the reasons they cannot do something. “I am poor because the taxes are too high. My education was rubbish. My family does not support me. I have no qualifications. I have no experience. Etc.” Jim Rohn calls this your philosophy. We blame our personal state of affairs on our external life. And most of those things cannot be changed.
What has to change to make us successful in life, in love, in wealth, in time etc. is ourselves. The one thing I can change is me. The one thing you can change is you. You cannot change your past. You can change the way you think about things. This is about changing your philosophy.
There are many different approaches to this and none of them will work for you if you insist that they won’t. Let me give you an example: In dealing with people who say: “What you are asking is impossible.” I always ask them: “How can we make it possible? What do we have to do to make this thing happen?” It is amazing how many people then think differently and come out with a solution instead of arguing.
If you find yourself thinking: “I can’t do this.” Change the words in your head to: “If it was possible, how would I do it?” The conversations we have in our heads are thoughts which influence our actions. Change the thought, change the action.
There are many ways in which you can educate yourself and get much more out of your own life, if you want to. I have seen some remarkable changes in people who have decided that: “Enough is enough! I want things to get better: much better.”
We all live in familiarity. We go to the same places, see the same people and do the same things again and again. We call that living in our “comfort zone.” That is OK if you are happy with how things are. If you want to change then thinking is necessary and a change in thinking even more so. You will have to step elegantly out of your comfort zone too.
I have studies N.L.P. for many years and one golden secret to life is that:” If you always do what you have always done, you will always get the same things.”
That is Fine for Some People. Others Want Their Life to Change for The Better
There is no barrier in age, background or religion that will limit or prevent you from thinking. At this moment in time we have not developed mind reading or thought police. Richard Branson is dyslexic and was thrown out of school. Virgin Atlantic, Virgin Records, Virgin Trains, Virgin phones, Virgin finance, Virgin bank, over 400 companies. He was brought up by his parents to face challenges and find solutions. He made many mistakes and learnt from them. He ran some of his business from a rented house, a boat and paid everyone the same as he earned himself. If he can do it, so can you.
Watch this, please; it is fun, helpful and encouraging. Most people have not tried to start a business. I would say to them: Just try it. Only a small amount of money is needed to start.
If you find any of these video clips helpful, then self-help seminars and books will probably help you.
I have found some amazing books on Car-boot markets, in charity shops and online. It is amazing what you can find if you: have a thought, act on the thought and try something new.
It is an amazing and fascinating world today with inspiration, education and ideas flooding through the internet daily. Good luck in whatever you choose to do.
